Family Recipe Book & Kitchen Binder
Printable A4 PDF + Excel index
A printable cookbook you fill in yourself, with space for the story behind each dish.
A recipe written in a notebook gets lost. A recipe written on a card gets lost faster. The recipes that survive are the ones copied into something you cook from, in your own units, with the notes that say what went wrong the first time.
What's included
- 15-page printable A4 PDF: start-here guide, two recipe page layouts, a master index by section, a kitchen measures and conversions page with Indian measures and common ingredient weights, a substitutions and fixes table, a troubleshooting page, weekly meal plan, shopping list with a total, festival menu planner, guest and dietary notes, an extra recipe page, notes and a print guide
- Excel index with five tabs: a recipe register, a weekly meal plan, a count of how often each recipe is planned, a shopping list with a total, and a summary by section
- The conversions page covers katori, vati and handfuls alongside grams and millilitres, because most family recipes are written in measures nobody wrote down.
Who it's for
Anyone who cooks at home and wants the family recipes in one place. Good as a gift for a parent, a grandparent, a sibling moving out, or a wedding, especially when the pages are filled in by the family rather than bought blank.
How to use it
- Start with the five dishes you cook most, not the impressive ones.
- Write each recipe as you cook it next time, not from memory.
- Use the notes box at the bottom of the page for what you changed. That box carries the real value.
- Number every completed page in the corner and write the number in the index.
- Plan the week on the meal plan page, then write the shopping list from it rather than from a walk around the shop.
File formats and sizes
- Family-Recipe-Book-Kitchen-Binder.pdf — 15 pages, A4, print-ready at 100% scale (272 KB). Also opens in any PDF writing app on a tablet.
- Family-Recipe-Index.xlsx — 5 tabs, opens in Excel, Google Sheets, LibreOffice and WPS (14 KB).
- README.txt — print order and a short setup guide.
Please note. Measurements use metric weights and millilitres with Indian kitchen measures in the conversion table. Adjust salt, chilli and sugar to your own taste every time you cook. The substitution table lists common kitchen practice, not food-safety guidance; for allergies or any medical diet, follow your doctor or a qualified dietitian. Images on this page are illustrations.
Questions
Is it a printed book?
No. It is a digital download of blank recipe pages, an index and kitchen reference pages. You print it and fill it in yourself.
How many recipe pages should I print?
Start with ten of the main layout and five of the two-column layout. Print more as the book fills.
Does it include Indian measurements?
Yes. The conversion page covers katori, vati, teacup and handfuls alongside grams and millilitres, plus common ingredient weights.
Can I use it as a gift?
Yes, and it works best filled in rather than blank. Print the pages, fill a few family recipes and give it with the folder.
Does the Excel file work in Google Sheets?
Yes. Upload it to Drive, open with Google Sheets and choose File > Save as Google Sheets.
Instant download after payment. Works on phone, tablet and desktop.
